MS ALBATROS COMES A CRUISING FROM GERMANY


Kuching, 8 March 2012– MS ALBATROS, a German cruise ship operated by Phoenix Reisen based in Bonn, Germany, arrived Sarawak’s shores this morning.

The cruise ship is on its 21 Days “On The Trail of the European Explorer” commencing from Fremantle, on to Geraldton and Exmouth in Australia and then on to Benoa and Padang Bai in Indonesia , arriving in Kuching this morning. From Kuching the cruise will make its way to Laem Chabang in Thailand, Sihanoukeville in Cambodia and will travel down to Singapore, Port Kelang, Georgetown and finally to Sabang, Indonesia and ending in Colombo, India.

The cruise ship had 833 passengers and a crew of 340 on board. They were made up of various nationalitieswith the majority being from Australia. They are scheduled to visit key tourist spots in Kuching such as Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching City as well as the Orang Utan at Semenggoh Wildlife Centre.



Arriving today at the Senari Port, the passengers were given a traditional welcome courtesy of Sarawak Tourism Board.

Sarawakhas been blessed with so far 7 cruise ships arriving in the state. These cruise ships contribute positively to our tourist numbers and also provide an opportunity for Sarawak to showcase itself as an eco-tourism destination. Sarawak Tourism Board is proud to be associated with them. We will continue to attract more cruises to the State and we hope that with the support we provide, they will come back a second time with their friends and family.
